James B. Emmett is an American designer, illustrator, painter and digital sequential artist. A 2008 Communication Design graduate of Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, NY) with a major in illustration, his career began in the Trade Department at Marvel Entertainment, where he undertook creation of a digital collection of 70 years of Marvel comics. His responsibilities included the supervising of freelancers and interns, research of archival materials, editing and proofreading, as well as the maintenance and oversight of the Marvel Library catalogue.
In 2009, James undertook his first freelance comic book collaboration with writer Robert James Russell, completing the imaging, penciling, inking, and lettering of Ex Occultus: Seal of Solomon -- published by Saint James Comics.
James continues to work as a freelance designer and illustrator in comic books, completing assignments for, among others: Marvel Entertainment, 451 Media, Tres Calaveras Studios, Wayward Raven, Rebel Sidekick Studios, Grayhaven Comics, Studio 39, Atlas Unleashed, Twisted Tree Comics, and Saint James Comics. He has made several guest appearances as a featured artist, panelist and exhibitor at several Comic Book conventions. The Committee, to be published by Wayward Raven in 2015, is James's first solo effort as both writer and illustrator.
